Hello Dan, as I am reminded this morning of your passing, I am overcome with sadness. Today is the tenth anniversary of your leaving and as it does get easier to know you will not be joining your family for all the Christmas celebrations, I know you would be so proud of them. Your daughter is beautiful and so successful in her studies and her life. You have been a positive influence of all our lives and we continue to miss your presence. Love always, Aunt Janet

Yesterday marked the 9 year Anniversary of your Memorial.  It was a very sharp memory for us as we attended the funeral of another dear friend. Thoughts yesterday turned to the family and friends who attended your service and came to pay respect to you. One thing that still remains true is that you impacted a lot of people during your relatively short time on earth. We continue to talk about you and share stories of your adventures and misadventures. Forever loved and always missed Dan you will always be Bailey's Dad.

Yesterday you would have turned 50 Dan!  Sure wish you were here for that milestone and I still don't understand why you are not with us!
Your Dad is with us and we are enjoying his company and cherishing every minute we have with him since the passing of your Mom.  Your little girl drove off with a horse in a trailer and is doing what you helped her start with,rodeo, she calls it her passion and we support her with it as best we can.  Hope you, Ellen,Grandma Jean and all those others had a good party in heaven!

Dan, Your mom has left us this week to join you and Grandma and Grandpa Maudsley.  She had missed you dearly and has now slipped away to a better place. She struggled for many months to stay with your family and friends here but welcomed the peace and rest she will receive with you. Welcome her with arms wide open. Love you always.

We don't celebrate the day you left us Dan but we celebrate every day the life you lived and the man and father you were.  Bailey left for school in high Spirits today knowing that you are in a better place and your pain has ended. She made special Santa hats for Tanner and herself and they wore them as they drove off to school. The two of them have such a great bond it is wonderful to see.  Shaun misses you greatly and often recalls the good and crazy times you had together as brothers and friends.  We are talking about a party for your 50th and hope to make it one you would have loved to be at!  Watch over us this Christmas and send us the sign that you are with us in all that we do!   RIP Danny Boy!

Hi Dan, I found these words in the paper this morning and immediately thought they were written just for you. Some words I have modified to fit you specifically and wish you to know you are still very much part of your family's life. We know you loved your family but wish to remind you that your love is also reciprocated.

The years go quickly but the days are long without you;
We think of you often, memories of you are everywhere;
In the rising and setting sun we remember your love of colorful skies; In the warm breezes of fall we think of your love of the country;
In the chilly breezes of winter we think of the warmth and comfort you created in our homes;
As life renews in the spring we think of your love of nature;
In the relaxing days of summer we think of your beautiful smile and love of the outdoors, the family cottage and lake;
At holidays and family events we think of your warm greetings, fun and engaging conversation;
You are constantly with us;
We long to talk with you, laugh with you and feel your genuine caring.
Today we ask God to Bridge us from the intense sadness of your loss to the promise of tomorrow for our lives;
We look forward to the day that we will be with you in that place of eternal peace;
Until then we remember you. We will love you forever.

Happy Birthday Dan. Today you would be 49 years old. We are remembering how you always came to Crystal Lake on the long weekend and were the first one in the water. This weekend is beautiful so far and you would be enjoying all that nature has to offer - the loons, the birds singing, the smell of fresh cut grass and of course the fish jumping. In the evening the lake is like glass and the sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking.

Bailey is a beautiful, mature young lady and we are all so proud of her. She is off to another High School Rodeo in Swift Current this weekend. She loves her new horse Snippy. Shaun and Lorraine are raising her like their daughter and she considers Taylor and Tanner her siblings.

Your smile will always be remembered. We love you and miss you always.

Today would have been your 48th Birthday Dan.  Bailey has decided she will plant a flower to mark this occasion. She says that you are happier where you are and knows that the sun will be shining in Castle Avery today as it is here.  RIP Danny Boy.

We had a "Maudsley" family reunion this summer at Sandy Lake and it just wasn't the same without you Dan. But I did get to see your beautiful daughter Bailey. She is quite a lady now and when she smiles she looks exactly like you. I told her how much she looks like you and she was so pleased. As long as we have Bailey we have a part of you. I know you're keeping Grandma and Grandpa company. We think of you all often and miss you terribly. Love Auntie Marlene and Uncle Lou

Yesterday was the second anniversary of your passing Dan and I hope you enjoyed the messages that we all sent your way. It was Baileys idea of course to write you a letter and then to burn it so the smoke could carry it to heaven for you to see.  I am sure you got a lot of laughs out of our difficulty with the burning part and how your brother almost completely torched "your" candle in the process.  We shared some special memories of you and prayed you are in a better place. RIP Danny Boy!

Dad words can never say how much I miss you but now I know you are in a better place and you can watch and guard over all of us. When we need you most we know you are there watching over us and helping us along every step of the way we all love you and miss you dearly but just because we don't see you every day doesn't mean your not here guiding us along and when we need you most we will always know you are in our hearts.

Dan We love you now and forever.

Days of sadness still come o'er us
Tears in silence often flow,
For memory keeps you ever near us
Though you died one year ago.

Look around your garden Lord
Find the son we love
Put your arms around him
We only wish we could.

Another day without you here Dan. It just seems impossible but it is true. Bailey is doing well - she misses you - as we all do.  She is a beautiful girl with a bright future and we will try to fill the hole left with your passing but we can never replace the love she received from you!
Rest in Peace Dan

I got to know you quite well when I used to babysit you and Shaun every summer in High Bluff. You used to pull that belt so tight on your jeans, I didn't know how you could breath. I also remember one Christmas at my house when you poured the sauce for the Christmas pudding all over your potatoes thinking it was gravy. I know you are with Grandma now, so you'll be at peace. We love you

I will always remember how much fun my cousin Danny was, he taught me how to snowmobile fast like him and his brothers! He liked to swim and have diving competitions with my dad and I! And just this summer had a blast kicking my dads butt with Carson at bocci! Danny told me that day how proud he was of Bailey and pretty and smart she had grown up to be! Danny, we love you and miss you!

Quad Rally October 13, 2012

December 20, 2015

Today is a sad day for us Dan as we wake up to the third Anniversary of your passing.   In the spirit of "celebrating" your life we focus on remembering the good times and laughter that we shared.  This picture was taken during a break in the Vanscoy Quad Rally by Lisa Michnik and it is the last photo we have of you with us.  We had such a great day and you were full of stories and BS as usual!  We spent the whole afternoon zooming across fields and getting stuck and unstuck in the mud.  All good until I blew the motor in my quad which of course made you laugh even harder!  Wish you could have stayed for the fish fry but your sense of duty was so strong and your phone just kept ringing and ringing - so sadly off you went to deal with the other demands of the day.   We keep your greatest treasure safe, well loved and cared for but know that only you could fill that hole in her heart where you should be.   Miss you Bud, RIP Danny Boy!

The Most Beautiful Place on Earth

December 19, 2013

Dan emailed us this photo on July 6, 2012 from up near Prince Albert where he had camped overnight.  He noted that it was the headwaters of the North and South Saskatchewan rivers and commented that it was "the most beautiful place on earth".
